But even when the economy is doing well, many people have developed a more polarized \u2014 and negative \u2014 perception of the economic environment overall, a disconnect known as a &#8220;vibecession.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not that influences how people vote, the vibecession does not appear to have shown up in how they invest.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we look at our own member base, nearly 10 million plan participants, they&#8217;re not moving their money,&#8221;\u00a0 said Dan Houston, chairman and CEO of Principal Financial Group, in an exclusive interview at CNBC&#8217;s global headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. &#8220;They&#8217;re staying the course, and they know that they&#8217;re well served to stay in a well-diversified portfolio.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<div class=\"RelatedContent-relatedContent\" id=\"SpecialReportArticle-RelatedContent-1\">\n<div class=\"RelatedContent-container\">\n<div class=\"RelatedContent-nonCollapsibleContent\">\n<h2 class=\"RelatedContent-header\">More from Your Money:<\/h2>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p><em>Here&#8217;s a look at more stories on how to manage, grow and protect your money for the years ahead.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>Principal offers retirement plans and other financial products to 68 million clients, including institutions and individuals, around the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"ArticleBody-subtitle\"><a id=\"headline0\"><\/a>U.S. is &#8216;treading water&#8217; on financial inclusion<\/h2>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>Since 2022, Principal&#8217;s Global Financial Inclusion Index has measured how governments, employers and financial systems promote financial inclusion of consumers in more than 40 markets.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the U.S. fell three places in the ranking to 7th overall.
