It provides reduced closing costs for many refinancing and home loan programs, whether the customer is actively serving or retired.<\/p>\n<p>STaR can be used with several home loan programs, including FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional home loan programs.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #191b23;\">Who Qualifies for STaR?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The STaR Loan Program is open to both active and retired professionals in eligible fields. To qualify for STaR, you must fall into one of the following categories.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #434343;\">1. Teachers, principals, and school counselors<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those currently employed full-time with a teaching credential in a public or private K-12 school.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those retired from such a position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #434343;\">2. Law enforcement officers<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those currently employed full-time with city, county, or state law enforcement as a police officer, sheriff, highway patrol officer, or trooper.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those retired from such a position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #434343;\">3. Firefighters and first responders<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those currently employed full-time as a firefighter, EMT, or paramedic with a city, county, state, or private company.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those retired from such a position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #434343;\">4. Correctional officers and border patrol agents<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those currently employed full-time with city, county, or state law enforcement as a correctional officer or border patrol agent.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those retired from such a position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #434343;\">5. Nurses<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those currently employed full-time as a registered nurse (RN) or licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in a hospital or clinic.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Those retired from such a position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14px; color: #434343;\">How to qualify<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you qualify, you can use this program to buy your first home, buy a new home, or refinance to reduce your loan term, interest rate, or monthly payments.
