As I write this, the most popular ETF tracking the energy sector, the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund<\/strong> (NYSE: XLE) has gained 0.4% year to date. Based on that alone, you might think it\u2019s been an uneventful year for energy stocks.<\/p>\n

In reality, it\u2019s been the exact opposite.<\/p>\n
