Demo <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/cognition_labs\/status\/1767548763134964000?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">videos<\/a> showed the program operating as a full-stack engineer, completing multi-step assignments with minimal intervention.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re going to start augmenting our workforce with Devin, which is going to be like our new employee who&#8217;s going to start doing stuff on the behalf of our developers,&#8221; Argenti said this week in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Initially, we will have hundreds of Devins [and] that might go into the thousands, depending on the use cases,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the latest indicator of the dizzying speed in which AI is being adopted in the corporate world. Just last year, Wall Street firms including <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-5\">JPMorgan Chase<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span technology.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the arrival of agentic AI on Wall Street \u2014 referencing programs like Devin that don&#8217;t just help humans with tasks like summarizing documents or writing emails, but instead execute complex multi-step jobs like building entire apps \u2014 signals a much larger shift, with greater potential rewards.<\/p>\n<p>Tech giants including <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-9\">Microsoft<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span code on some projects, and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-12\">Salesforce<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> CEO Marc Benioff\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-06-26\/salesforce-ceo-says-30-of-internal-work-is-being-handled-by-ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> last month that AI handles as much as 50% of the work at his company.<\/p>\n<p>At Goldman Sachs, one of the world&#8217;s top investment banks, this more powerful form of AI has the potential to boost worker productivity by up to three or four times the rate of previous AI tools, according to Argenti.<\/p>\n<p>Devin will be supervised by human employees and will handle jobs that engineers often consider drudgery, like staff is reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-03-12\/cognition-ai-is-a-peter-thiel-backed-coding-assistant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stocked<\/a> with champion coders.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the startup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-03-18\/cognition-ai-hits-4-billion-valuation-in-deal-led-by-lonsdale-s-firm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doubled<\/a> its valuation to nearly $4 billion just a year after the release of Devin.
