{"id":16767,"date":"2025-06-16T15:34:22","date_gmt":"2025-06-16T15:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/finderica.com\/?p=16767"},"modified":"2025-06-16T15:34:22","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T15:34:22","slug":"amex-platinum-chase-sapphire-get-2025-refresh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/finderica.com\/?p=16767","title":{"rendered":"Amex Platinum, Chase Sapphire get 2025 refresh"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"RegularArticle-ArticleBody-5\" data-module=\"ArticleBody\" data-test=\"articleBody-2\" data-analytics=\"RegularArticle-articleBody-5-2\"><span class=\"HighlightShare-hidden\" style=\"top:0;left:0\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"InlineImage-imageEmbed\" id=\"ArticleBody-InlineImage-108086122\" data-test=\"InlineImage\">\n<div class=\"InlineImage-wrapper\">\n<div>\n<p>Anna Barclay | Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>The long-running rivalry between the country&#8217;s top premium credit cards is about to heat up again.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-1\">JPMorgan Chase<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> announced last week that a refresh of its Sapphire Reserve \u2014 the travel and dining rewards card that went <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/wirecutter\/money\/chase-sapphire-reserve-oral-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">viral<\/a> when it arrived in 2016 \u2014 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DKsOTmCTzJ3\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;amp;ig_rid=58103f00-7a85-4b1d-b5b7-27546a62b5a3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">imminent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In response, <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-4\">American Express<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> on Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanexpress.com\/en-us\/newsroom\/articles\/products-and-services\/american-express-announces-major-updates-coming-to-u-s--consumer.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that &#8220;major&#8221; changes were coming to its consumer and business Platinum cards later this year. While short on details, the New York-based card company said that its update would be its largest ever investment in a card refresh.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are going to double down on the things we know based on the data that our card members love,&#8221; said Amex President of U.S. Consumer Services <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.americanexpress.com\/governance-and-corporate-responsibility\/executive-committee-and-directors\/person-details\/default.aspx?ItemId=7f20b92a-1412-42e6-a358-00a3a1ce1844\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Howard Grosfield<\/a> in an interview. &#8220;But more importantly, we&#8217;ll bring a whole bunch of new and exciting benefits and value that will far, far, far exceed the annual fee.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>American Express pioneered the premium credit card space decades ago with cards that bundled perks at airlines and hotels with access to its own network of high-end airport lounges. But JPMorgan shook up the industry in 2016, igniting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/amex-fires-another-shot-at-chases-sapphire-reserve-1490802710?gaa_at=eafs&amp;amp;gaa_n=ASWzDAhHJfu8ueAndjvbC3JgxCJDONWzMP-nMTRrSs4gMk9fn5sbQnqGJ6F3dj1Ajyc%3D&amp;amp;gaa_ts=684ff452&amp;amp;gaa_sig=w-O06Dr5NvpgNB6KqQfLgIhcJ-FWfmKEBcY-SBJDN10fU8-zPdwYqkC783ZzWGe7kmSbKCv0yxSxswcbIohS5A%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stiff competition<\/a> among card issuers with a lavish sign-on bonus and other incentives for its Sapphire card.<\/p>\n<p>The expectation among industry experts is that both companies will offer ever-longer lists of perks in travel, dining and experiences, while potentially raising their annual fees, as has been the pattern with recent updates.<\/p>\n<p>The Platinum card has a $695 annual fee, while the Sapphire has a $550 fee.<\/p>\n<p>On Reddit and other forums, card users circulated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/CreditCards\/comments\/1ki12uk\/rumor_chase_to_raise_annual_fee_of_sapphire\/?share_id=0YiXf-KOhiLp6YrcwRm1b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rumors<\/a> that JPMorgan was hiking the annual fee on its Sapphire product to $795.
