It is shown in block #31 of the Standard Form (SF) 50. This SCD includes most military service, unless the employee is retired military, even if they have not made the military deposit.<\/p>\n<p>The rules of computing the leave service computation date are found in the Office of Personnel Management\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opm.gov\/policy-data-oversight\/data-analysis-documentation\/personnel-documentation\/servicecreditleave.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"6754\">Guide to Processing Personnel Actions,\u00a0 Chapter 6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An example of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opm.gov\/frequently-asked-questions\/feds-hire-vets-faq\/general\/what-is-a-standard-form-50-sf-50\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"6757\">SF-50<\/a> form is below.\u00a0 Note: Only a federal employee\u2019s leave SCD appears on the SF-50.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4852\" src=\"https:\/\/www.myfederalretirement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SCD-sf50.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"736\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.myfederalretirement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SCD-sf50.jpg 955w, https:\/\/www.myfederalretirement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SCD-sf50-750x240.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.myfederalretirement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SCD-sf50-300x96.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.myfederalretirement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SCD-sf50-768x245.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.myfederalretirement.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/SCD-sf50-150x48.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\"><\/p>\n<h2>Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) SCD<\/h2>\n<p>The TSP SCD is used to determine when an federal employee became vested in Thrift Savings Plan and is required only for an employee covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).\u00a0 Vesting means that the TSP participant is entitled to keep Agency Automatic (1%) Contributions (and earnings) after the employee has completed a time-in-service requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Most individuals covered by FERS are vested in the TSP after 3 years of service. All federal civilian service time is included in the Thrift Savings Plan service computation date,\u00a0 but the date may not reflect a value earlier than January 1, 1984.<\/p>\n<h2>Reduction In Force (RIF) SCD<\/h2>\n<p>The RIF SCD is one of four factors used to determine a federal employee\u2019s federal employee\u2019s retention if there was a Reduction in Force at an agency. \u00a0 The RIF SCD includes all creditable military and civilian service and is adjusted with additional credit (up to a maximum of 20 years) for the employee\u2019s performance ratings. The \u201cadjusted\u201d RIF-SCD is reflected on the retention register and is included in the RIF notice provided to an impacted employee.<\/p>\n<h2>Retirement SCD<\/h2>\n<p>The federal retirement service computation date includes the service that is creditable in determining if a federal employees is eligible for retirement.\u00a0 It is often the date of his\/her first federal appointment that was covered under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS or CSRS-Offset) or FERS.. \u00a0Generally, leave SCD and retirement SCD are the same unless the federal employee is\u00a0 retired military (such employees should consult with their human resource office to determine the retirement SCD) .<\/p>\n<p>The retirement SCD is used to determine federal retirement eligibility and therefore, does not include sick leave.
