{"id":10339,"date":"2025-02-18T10:52:52","date_gmt":"2025-02-18T10:52:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/finderica.com\/?p=10339"},"modified":"2025-02-18T10:52:52","modified_gmt":"2025-02-18T10:52:52","slug":"the-new-york-stock-exchange-is-launching-an-exchange-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/finderica.com\/?p=10339","title":{"rendered":"The New York Stock Exchange is launching an exchange in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"RegularArticle-ArticleBody-5\" data-module=\"ArticleBody\" data-test=\"articleBody-2\" data-analytics=\"RegularArticle-articleBody-5-2\"><span class=\"HighlightShare-hidden\" style=\"top:0;left:0\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"InlineImage-imageEmbed\" id=\"ArticleBody-InlineImage-108096650\" data-test=\"InlineImage\">\n<div class=\"InlineImage-wrapper\">\n<div>\n<p>A person walks past the New York Stock Exchange at Wall Street in New York on Feb. 3, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Weiss | AFP | Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>The New York Stock Exchange will soon have a presence in Texas to cater to the growing number of companies looking for a home base in the business-friendly state.<\/p>\n<p>The NYSE announced Wednesday that one of its electronic exchanges, NYSE Chicago, will reincorporate in Texas and be renamed NYSE Texas, giving companies an option to list their stocks in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the state with the largest number of NYSE listings, representing over $3.7 trillion in market value for our community, Texas is a market leader in fostering a pro-business atmosphere,&#8221; Lynn Martin, president of NYSE Group, said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>The NYSE is part of <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-1\">Intercontinental Exchange<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span>. NYSE Chicago was previously the Chicago Stock Exchange, which was acquired by ICE in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes as a potential competitor to the NYSE is emerging in Texas. Last month, TXSE Group announced that it had filed for registration of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.txse.com\/press-releases\/texas-stock-exchange-files-form-1-registration-to-operate-as-a-national-securities-exchange\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas Stock Exchange<\/a> with the Securities and Exchange Commission. TXSE Group said it has raised $161 million and intends to launch trading in early 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told CNBC last year that rules around environmental, social and governance, or ESG, was a motivation to have a Texas-based exchange. Texas is one of several states that have pushed back against ESG rules from Wall Street firms.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need to make sure that Texas companies, and companies similarly situated, are not going to be cut off from capital markets in New York with policy decisions made from the left in places like New York,&#8221; Abbott said.<\/p>\n<p>Texas has also emerged as a competitor to Delaware as the legal home of major companies. <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-4\">Tesla<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> reincorporated in Texas last year after a legal fight in Delaware court over a pay package for CEO Elon Musk. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/meta-incorporation-texas-delware-f06e8bab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> reported last month that <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-7\">Meta Platforms<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> was exploring a similar move.<\/p>\n<p>Trading at the NYSE exchanges and most major stock exchanges around the world is done almost entirely electronically.
